A 2016 study from the University of New Mexico discovered that clutter which created a “chaotic and disorderly living space,” has a negative impact on the subject’s ability to feel good.
There is the obvious benefit of having clear walkways in your home. Stacks of papers or other things on stairs or in hallways can be dangerous, especially for seniors. Organizing will remove items laying around that might cause you to stub your toe or even hurt yourself in a fall.
Too many objects in your home will add to the accumulation of more dust. It can even lead to insect or rodent infestations that may cause conditions like asthma and allergies. Removing excess belongings can help reduce the number of allergens in your surroundings.
